The California Patient Safety Action Coalition (CAPSAC) believes now is the time to align perspectives on accountability to ensure safer health care in California. However, we cannot do it alone. We invite you to help us create a pathway to a "Fair and Just Culture" for medical event reporting.
CAPSAC will be taking part in an important state-wide initiative to improve patient safety by changing perspectives on how to handle human errors and near misses in health care. As part of this initiative, CAPSAC will offer a class on a key best practice called a Fair and Just Culture for medical event reporting.
CAPSAC's training aligns with legislation (SB158) that took effect January 1, 2009 that requires general acute-care hospitals, acute psychiatric hospitals, special hospitals and skilled nursing facilities to establish patient safety plans.
