WHO WE ARE
CAPSAC is the California chapter of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC), a non-profit, leading national organization founded in 1986, which supports professionals engaged in all aspects of service to maltreated children and their families.
WHAT WE DO
CAPSAC aims to:
- Improve standards for the prevention, identification, intervention and treatment of abused & neglected children, their families, adults abused as children, and offending individuals 
- Provide forums for the exchange of information among professionals working in the child abuse & neglect field 
- Promote research on the problem of child abuse & neglect 
- Encourage and promote multidisciplinary education and collaboration 
- Serve as a representational forum within which the needs and concerns of child abuse professionals can be articulated at the state and national level 
- Promote the effectiveness and wellbeing of child abuse professionals 
HOW WE DO IT
As a multidisciplinary group of professionals, APSAC/CAPSAC achieves its purpose in a number of ways; most notably through expert training and educational activities, policy leadership and collaboration, and consultation that emphasize theoretically sound, evidence-based principles and practices.
